I safely landed in Las Vegas today around 12:00 p.m., and then spent the next four hours wandering around, surely up to no good. I eventually wound up in the CES press room, then spent a couple of hours getting work done in the CES press unveiling event.
The Tropicana is nice if you just want a place to crash and take a shower, but the casino itself is pretty dumpy compared to the MGM Grand, Caesar's, or Venetian.
I knew before I left the Bay Area that I would have to see the Blue Man Group while in Vegas, and there was no way I could avoid it. So I decided to get that out of the way on the first night - and the show absolutely rocked! I am going to post a separate blog post about the show in the next day or two.
I initially wanted to go to bed after the Blue Man Group, but I managed to play the penny slots for the sole purpose of drinking as much booze as I could before my $10 in the machine went down to $0.00. The kind folks at the Venetian managed to get me six drinks over the course of the $10 -- I was down to my last $0.30, but ended up winning some type of "super bonus" that bumped me back to $7.50.
I'm in my hotel room right now and it's 4:30 a.m., and I realize waking up at 7:30 a.m. will prove to be a serious kick in the balls.
